Sources

The unpublished manuscript Monster Seven Sevenby R. William Clark provided the bulk of the material found here. Associated with this manuscript are the author's files containing notes and correspondence relating to the subject. When any of these sources were used they were cited in the text.

Primary source material used in the original manuscript and available for this project consisted of copies of the Ship's Deck Log of the USS LCI(G) 77 contained on four reels of microfilm and the complete U.S. Navy Bureau of Ships plans and drawings for the LCI large assualt craft on a single reel of microfilm obtianed from the National Archives and Records Administration.

Information relating to life at the Officer Training Course at Columbis University and the curriculum of that course was provided during a telephone interview with Mr. Frank Vincent on April 27, 2004. Mr. Vincent was a V-7 candidate from Oregon who attended training along with Bill Clark.

Images

All photographs come from the files Bill Clark assembled while writing his manuscript. Where the origin is known it is cited along with the photograph.

All of the pencil drawings are from a group of drawings made by LT(jg)Richard Martin and found in the files.

The maps and charts are copies of original official documents found in files and not from any other outside source. The one exception is the Pearl Harbor map the outline of which was copied in part from the 2004 AAA Map of Hawaii.

Design

This site was developed in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the graduate history program at George Mason University. The site author, Ray Clark, accomplished all design, scripting, and a majority of the coding found on this site. Critical review was provided by the other members of the Spring 2004 History 697 course, Creating History in New Media, however, the author exercised his prerogative to use or disregard that advise as he saw fit.
